Tarte 2012 5-piece LipSurgence Collectors Set Review

The Product: Tarte 2012 5-piece LipSurgence Collectors Set

Not too long ago, Tarte came out with their holiday gift sets.  One of them was their famous LipSurgence in a 5-piece set.  The set includes two lusters, two tints and one matte LipSurgence.  Essentially, a LipSurgence is a lip crayon, like the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains or the Clinique Chubby Stick.  The kit comes with 5 full size LipSurgence in, as shown above, Escape (luster), Enchanted (tint), Exposed (matte), Sweet (luster) and Elite (tint).  The set retails at $34.

**Tarte's website has a promotional code for 15% off. The code is AWT.

Below are swatches of the five.
From left to right: Elite, Escape, Enchanted, Exposed, Sweet.

The Good

The lusters have the most shine (of course), while the matte is obviously matte and the tint is in the middle.  I like the variety in finishes.  I especially like that they included the matte.  It is the most neutral color of the five.

The application is smooth and easy.

Although it is a crayon, there is no sharpening required.

The Bad

Not a lot of color variety.  All five are a different shade of pink.

✖ Does not stay on the lips for a very long time.  Multiple reapplications required throughout an 8 hour day.

Overall

Definitely a good investment.  While there is not too much variety, all shades are beautiful and it is a steal, since one costs $24.00 and these 5 full size are $34.00.  The pigmentation is great, just make sure to reapply.
